On this episode, we discuss the challenge of networking events and the struggle to find common ground with people who have different experiences. Discover how one conversation changed Bhavisha’s perspective, showing her that sharing her unique journey from India to the UK could be an impactful conversation topic.
We also examine biases within the Asian community, acknowledging the diversity of views and the frustration of being judged by others. Join us as we explore the personal effects of intrusive questions on our desire to engage and form connections.
Through personal anecdotes, we shed light on the barriers women face in the financial services industry. From gender biases to assumptions about our qualifications, we strive for inclusivity and advocate for change.
Lastly, we share practical tips for women navigating biased situations in financial services and discuss the importance of starting conversations about inclusivity. Together, we can challenge societal norms and create a more inclusive and respectful industry.
Julie gets a bit militant towards the end, and is calling on you join her in not ticking unnecessary boxes – don’t get her started on the titles such as Miss, Mrs and Ms.
