Every Thursday, integrative nutrition coach, cookbook author and toddler mama Lindsay Navama dishes up actionable, unconventional and outside the cereal box ways to help you feed your children the way you really want to—using FOOD as a TOOL to protect their both mental and health, not to mention reduce melt-downs, increase focus and so much more. Despite knowing more than ever before about the critical role food plays in protecting lifelong health, the mental and physical wellness of our youngest citizens has been declining at an alarming rate, according to the CDC, with ⅓ of kids in America being diagnosed with obesity and serious depression having increased among young people by 40% in the last decade. What’s going on?! We have a serious CULTURE PROBLEM. America’s current kid-food culture makes it WILDLY EASY for young people to become addicted to highly processed, factory food early in life and simultaneously VERY DIFFICULT for parents to teach their children to eat the whole, earth foods that actually protect their mental & physical health. If we continue down this processed path, our children’s health will continue to decline, earlier and earlier in life. OR, we can educate ourselves and CHOOSE to rewrite the future, where FARM FOODS once again become the norm and factory foods are forced to be held to higher, healthy standards to earn a SMALL place on our plates and in our lives.
