We are back with a new episode on our 1 year birthday! No we are not newborns and we weren't born yesterday, but this has been one year of the park rats podcast.
We are recovering from a blizzy up in the northeast and we wanted to fill you in on how bad nantucket got rocked as well as the history of fedoras.
In all reality we are talking about conservation today, mainly about the super steezy riprappers and rollies in the CCC. (Not CoCo Chanel).
Josh fills us in on the history of the Civilian Conservation Corps, how FDR blessed cardboard eaters in the the 30s with a chance for BEANS, and how important conservation is to keeping our parks alive. More than 3 million civilians were shipped throughout the US to build roads, bridges, and most of all good times ;)
We also talk about the grandmother of conservation in the US Mardy Murie who is one of the main reasons that more than 100 million acres in Alaska are free from loggers and other industries, known as the Arctic National Wildlife Range.
