DOWN GOES MARKETS
This is going to be a big week for markets as year-to-date gains are on a slippery slope towards being completely wiped out.
That of course depends on when someone bought – the S&P 500 is still up a few percent on the year, but down 10% from recent highs.
More pain awaits investors if markets fall further from here, but don’t expect the Fed to bail you out.
The Fed will announce a rate policy decision on Wednesday, and although the consensus is another pause, tough talk in their forward guidance could spook markets a day after Halloween.
This will all unfold prior to the non-farm payroll employment data on Friday.
In addition to these two big market moving events, one can’t ignore the risks for further escalation in the Middle East and what this could do to a shaky market struggling to find its footing.
