SUMMARY:

The Body of Christ is a concept that is very timely for what is happening today. As Paul said, “Now you are Christ's body, and individually members of it” (I Corinthians 12:27). We need to understand that the Lord created the Body of Christ to function as a unit, and what He created the individual parts to contribute.

SHOW NOTES:

• There are basic qualities in the human nature that take away the strength and effectiveness of human effort. They include division, and competition.

• On the Day of Pentecost, a group of disciples showed a quality that demonstrated great strength.--unity.

• As long as the Body of Christ channels division, and competition, their ministry will have no strength or power.

• The city of Babel tried to attain unity on its own, but they did not include the presence of God, so God actually destroyed what unity they had.

• Denominationalism can be one example of division on the human level.

• The Body of Christ must come together, as in the book of Acts, “they lifted up their voices to God with one accord” (Acts 4:24). That is what makes things work.

• Going through the cross of Christ in our lives, and thus dying out to the human nature, is the only way we're going to come into unity.

QUOTATIONS:

• Without the cross of Christ in our lives, and the dying out to the human nature, there will always be division and competitiveness.

• I don't think human nature can change itself.

• The whole thing of division has to do with , first, our openness to it, in our nature, and two, recognizing that there is an enemy out there. There are spirits of division and they're a real threat.

• I don't see where disagreement, and voicing it, solves anything, because my relationship with the Lord, and my walk with God is all based on revelation, not on human understanding and reason.

• In other words, we don't make a point. We don't get into a discussion or argument...and so you avoid that by laying down your life....you just simply love.

Speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in all aspects into Him who is the head, even Christ, from whom the whole body, being fitted and held together by what every joint supplies, according to the proper working of each individual part, causes the growth of the Body for the building up of itself in love.

TAKE AWAY:

How will the Body of Christ come into the destiny that God has intended? We know that we need to lose our focus on individuality and become a part of the whole unit, called the Body of Christ. God has spoken over and over that the only way we can be effective is by functioning in a oneness—being in one accord. Now is the time to change, which requires help from the Father. We draw the revelation from Him in what He wants. He will change us into that united entity that pleases Him.
