As the two guests explained violence as not just physical, it is the constant fear, the economic exclusion, the psychological trauma of hiding who you are." The constant threat of violence has severe mental health implications for LGBTQ youth. A survey conducted by a community led organization found 68% of LGBTQ youth in Ghana reported experiencing symptoms of depression, with 42% having contemplated suicide.
