The first of the year always propels us to set new (and sometimes old) goals. The problem with "resolutions" is that we can easily lose track if we do not find a way to create the momentum that will create the habits that help you achieve your goals. In this podcast, I breakdown my three P's of what it takes to create and build the momentum each of us needs to see our goals achieved. Setting goals is easy, but achieving them is not. Goals are meant to be hard and are meant to push us out of our comfort zone. Knowing your purpose is the first key and then making sure you are planning for the time (and discipline) you will need to achieve success. The third is creating a process that leads to continual progress toward your goal. Sit back and listen, grab a notebook and jot some notes. Read some of the authors mentioned. Most importantly, put these 3 P's into action and let me know how they work for you! #JamesClear #AtomicHabits #EdwardDemming #Kaizan #Purpose #Planning #Process #ComfortZone #Momentum #Discipline #Motivation #DeanCrisp #EssentialLeadershipLessons #TheLeadershipRecipe © 2024 Dean Crisp and LHLN (ALL RIGHTS RESERVED).…

Dean is back on air with a podcast near and dear to his heart - how to be a doer and not a feeler. Too often, we wait for a "feeling" or a "motivation" to take action. Dean says each of us battles this in some aspect of our lives, but to be significant in any thing of importance, you have to learn to become a doer! Dean outlines the 6 things it takes to become a "Doer" and leave your "waiting-on-a-feeling" ways behind! Enjoy! Be sure to register for one of our upcoming classes in January 2024! In a world where the hustle and bustle of daily life often takes precedence, it's a rare gem to come across a company that not only values its employees but also takes the time to pass along invaluable wisdom. Recently, I had the privilege of striking up a conversation with a young Chic Fil A employee while waiting in line at their counter. What I discovered in that brief encounter left a lasting impression and prompted me to ponder why more companies don't follow suit. The question I posed to her was simple: "What advice would you give to a new employee just starting at Chic Fil A?" Her response was nothing short of impressive and illuminated the essence of the company's philosophy. She spoke of core values that Chic Fil A holds dear, values that are not Listen and share this dynamic episode as Dean talks with Palm Beach Gardens Chick-fil-A Managing Partner, Jon Garon! In this episode, I use a quote from a student in our Master Leadership class to offer 7 tips on how to become more resilient as a leader. Everyone of us goes through personal and professional crises. It's the nature of human existence. Those of us who choose to be significant, tackle adversity head on and find ways to build your personal resilience. Dean talks about some of his own challenges during his 30+ year career and how he overcame the feeling of "brokenness." We are not born with resilience, but we can, with a little effort and commitment, create the conditions that grow our resilience. When you find your own personal recipe to do this, you will come out stronger and more flexible than you were before the crisis. That's what creates significant people and leaders. In this episode, Dean dives into what it means to provide hope to your people as a leader. When your people lose hope, they lose purpose and intent. As a leader, it is incumbent upon you to understand and see the need to provide hope to your employees. In doing so, your employees look toward the future and have a positive outlook on their job. Today's law enforcement profession is losing hope. It's important that their chief executives and command staffs understand that they must provide hope during a difficult time. This episode of Straight Talk on Leadership with Dean Crisp where Dean articulates his 10 tips for leaders to act significantly and, in the process, bulletproof their leadership in the process. Significant Leadership is the key to leading in today's workplace. It requires a Next Level of leadership that goes beyond the traditional model. It asks that Significant Leaders commit to their own personal growth as well as the growth of others who will someday be the leaders of the organization. Significant Leaders focus on both the hard skills (the what to do well) as well as the soft skills (how to do it well) that create organizations that not only function at a high level, but function in a healthy manner by creating the teams required to execute effectively. Significant Leaders have a Just Cause and articulate it well, they know their Why of Leadership , and their personal and organizational Purpose which they articulate well to all of their people. Becoming a Significant Leader is the Next Level of Leadership and one that all leaders should want to achieve. The Significant You is a concept that can transform your leadership. It's a shift in your mindset with the goal that your actions dictate the kind of leadership you exude. When you lead with intention and connection, you focus on the most important things: providing clarity of purpose, providing direction and building resilience. When you do those things consistently, you create a legacy of leadership. You begin to see things that others do not see. You understand that the people you lead give you permission to lead them everyday. Building resiliency for yourself and those you lead both personally and professionally is perhaps the greatest gift you give them. Personal growth is the key to doing this. Those who focus on personal growth almost never burnout at what they are doing. They are focused on how to learn from their mistakes and those made by others to build a better future for themselves, the ones they lead, and the organization. #resilience #TheSignificantYou #PreventBurnout #PersonalGrowth #leadership #legacy #significantleadership © 2024 Dean Crisp and LHLN (ALL RIGHTS RESERVED).…

Dean dives into a topic that any leader or professional can learn from...the importance of emotional regulation. Taken from the concept of emotional intelligence, it's the ability to recognize your emotional triggers and tips on regulating your reaction. The ultimate goal of any professional is to manage one's emotions for maximum effectiveness in professional (and personal) relationships. When we "react" we tend to lose control of the situation; where when we take the time to "respond" , we are able to effect a more positive outcome to any situation. Dean's tips are relevant to today's law enforcement officers facing tremendous morale and burnout issues. It also helps other professionals understand how to recognize, avoid, and deal rationally with emotional triggers. Everyone has them, this episode helps you deal with them. Dean discusses his observations and thoughts on the Tyre Nichols case in Memphis and how law enforcement must become servant officers. In many ways, this case was more egregious than George Floyd because America saw that it is the culture within departments and not necessarily race that is driving these types of responses among law enforcement. Dean calls for the creation of new types of officers who balance the heart of a servant with the mindset of a warrior. What we need are servant officers in our communities. It's what our communities want and expect from law enforcement. Be sure to read his blog about this topic as well at http://www.lhln.org © 2024 Dean Crisp and LHLN (ALL RIGHTS RESERVED).…
