The Miami Hurricanes have completed their first scrimmage of training camp. Head coach Mario Cristobal said the day “belonged to the offense.” The offense was able to create air and separation. Cristobal said they converted a big third down early on and it sparked their momentum the rest of the way. The offensive line is reportedly doing very well. This response from the offense is a very good sign after the defense had won the majority of the reps over the first week. Cristobal said the offense has adjusted to the speed of the defense.

Host Alex Donno reacts to the reports from the first scrimmage and wonders if we are close to naming a starting left guard. Matthew McCoy and Samson Okunlola have been competing for that spot. Donno imagines who special Cam Ward can be this season with protection. His offensive line was not good at Washington State last year. Miami has added legendary receivers coach Jerry Sullivan to their extended staff. Donno reacts to a report from CaneSport saying Mario Cristobal has improved his internal checks and balances to make sure a mistake like at the end of the Georgia Tech game does not happen again.
