Divide
Manage episode 360165826 series 1062645
I live on the Eastern continental divide. The picture to the right is of a sculpture in a local park showing two water flows intertwined with one flowing to the Atlantic Ocean and the other to the Gulf of Mexico. The flow towards the Gulf would be back towards my house.
The sculpture got me thinking about how, when I get to the top of the hill, if I turn one way I move towards the ocean and if I head the other way, I head back home.
Circles turn / and swirl the other way Depending which way you should go Choose a side of this divide Something only you will know Look to the west, the water flows back home The other way is to the sea Four hundred miles across that ground Watch it flow away from me Balancing / upon the razorâ€s edge Never feeling so alive Find yourself at the top of the world Searching for the other side Look to the west, the water flows back home The other way is to the sea Four hundred miles across that ground Watch it flow away from me The water knows the way back home It knows where you should be Follow the water on its way back home Follow it back to me Look to the west, the water flows back home The other way is to the sea Four hundred miles across that ground Watch it flow away from me Stare down your uncertainty Turn away from the sea In half a mile youâ€ll be back home Water brings you back to me
