This week, Jaiko is joined by Harris Jamal, a rising medical student with a passion for the intersection of sustainability and health. During his time as a student at the University of the Georgia, Harris served as the Sustainability in Healthcare Intern for the Office of Sustainability and graduated with his Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Health and Master’s Degree in Public Health. He also was recently a recipient of the 2020 Stephanie Davis Waste Reduction and Pollution Prevention Award and Scholarship. Throughout the episode, Harris discusses environmental impacts on health, why sustainability is part of the definition of medicine, different solutions that sustainability in healthcare provides, and the current state of the movement.
