Opening
Blessed be God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
And blessed be his kingdom, now and for ever. Amen.
Come, let us worship God our King.
Come, let us worship Christ, our King and our God.
Come, let us worship Christ among us, our King and our God.
Holy God,
holy and mighty,
holy immortal one,
have mercy upon us. (3x)
Glory be to the + Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit,
now and always and forever and ever. Amen.
From Psalm 51
Open my lips, O Lord, *
and my mouth shall proclaim your praise.
Create in me a clean heart, O God, *
and renew a right spirit within me.
Cast me not away from your presence *
and take not your holy Spirit from me.
Give me the joy of your saving help again *
and sustain me with your bountiful Spirit.
Glory be to the + Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit,
now and always and forever and ever. Amen.
A Psalm
Psalm 107
Part I Confitemini Domino
Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, and his mercy endures for ever.
Let all those whom the Lord has redeemed proclaim that he redeemed them from the hand of the foe.
He gathered them out of the lands; from the east and from the west, from the north and from the south.
Some wandered in desert wastes; they found no way to a city where they might dwell.
They were hungry and thirsty; their spirits languished within them.
Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and he delivered them from their distress.
He put their feet on a straight path to go to a city where they might dwell.
Let them give thanks to the Lord for his mercy and the wonders he does for his children.
For he satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things.
Some sat in darkness and deep gloom, bound fast in misery and iron;
Because they rebelled against the words of God and despised the counsel of the Most High.
So he humbled their spirits with hard labor; they stumbled, and there was none to help.
Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and he delivered them from their distress.
He led them out of darkness and deep gloom and broke their bonds asunder.
Let them give thanks to the Lord for his mercy and the wonders he does for his children.
For he shatters the doors of bronze and breaks in two the iron bars.
Some were fools and took to rebellious ways; they were afflicted because of their sins.
They abhorred all manner of food and drew near to death's door.
Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and he delivered them from their distress.
He sent forth his word and healed them and saved them from the grave.
Let them give thanks to the Lord for his mercy and the wonders he does for his children.
Let them offer a sacrifice of thanksgiving and tell of his acts with shouts of joy.
Some went down to the sea in ships and plied their trade in deep waters;
They beheld the works of the Lord and his wonders in the deep.
Then he spoke, and a stormy wind arose, which tossed high the waves of the sea.
They mounted up to the heavens and fell back to the depths; their hearts melted because of their peril.
They reeled and staggered like drunkards and were at their wits’ end.
Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and he delivered them from their distress.
He stilled the storm to a whisper and quieted the waves of the sea.
Then were they glad because of the calm, and he brought them to the harbor they were bound for.
Let them give thanks to the Lord for his mercy and the wonders he does for his children.
Let them exalt him in the congregation of the people and praise him in the council of the elders.
Psalm 107: Part II Posuit flumina
The Lord changed rivers into deserts, and water-springs into thirsty ground,
A fruitful land into salt flats, because of the wickedness of those who dwell there.
He changed deserts into pools of water and dry land into water-springs.
He settled the hungry there, and they founded a city to dwell in.
They sowed fields, and planted vineyards, and brought in a fruitful harvest.
He blessed them, so that they increased greatly; he did not let their herds decrease.
Yet when they were diminished and brought low, through stress of adversity and sorrow,
(He pours contempt on princes and makes them wander in trackless wastes)
He lifted up the poor out of misery and multiplied their families like flocks of sheep.
The upright will see this and rejoice, but all wickedness will shut its mouth.
Whoever is wise will ponder these things, and consider well the mercies of the Lord.
Glory be to the + Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit,
now and always and forever and ever. Amen.
The Readings
Philippians 1:27–2:4
Only let your manner of life be worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of you that you are standing firm in one spirit, with one mind striving side by side for the faith of the gospel, and not frightened in anything by your opponents. This is a clear sign to them of their destruction, but of your salvation, and that from God. For it has been granted to you that for the sake of Christ you should not only believe in him but also suffer for his sake, engaged in the same conflict that you saw I had and now hear that I still have.
So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind. Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.

Luke 6:17–23
And he came down with them and stood on a level place, with a great crowd of his disciples and a great multitude of people from all Judea and Jerusalem and the seacoast of Tyre and Sidon, who came to hear him and to be healed of their diseases. And those who were troubled with unclean spirits were cured. And all the crowd sought to touch him, for power came out from him and healed them all.
And he lifted up his eyes on his disciples, and said:
“Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God.
“Blessed are you who are hungry now, for you shall be satisfied.
“Blessed are you who weep now, for you shall laugh.
“Blessed are you when people hate you and when they exclude you and revile you and spurn your name as evil, on account of the Son of Man! Rejoice in that day, and leap for joy, for behold, your reward is great in heaven; for so their fathers did to the prophets.

The Apostles’ Creed
I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth;
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
Litany
Take a moment to gather up all your thoughts, to think through your day, and bring your petitions before God for you and for those you are praying for.
(In peace let us pray to the Lord, saying, “Lord, have mercy.”)
For peace from on high and for our salvation, let us pray to the Lord.
Lord, have mercy.
For the peace of the whole world, for the welfare of the holy Church of God, and for the unity of all, let us pray to the Lord.
Lord, have mercy.
For our bishops, and for all the clergy and people, let us pray to the Lord.
Lord, have mercy.
For the leaders of the nations, and for all in authority, let us pray to the Lord.
Lord, have mercy.
For our city, for every city and community, and for those who live in them in faith, let us pray to the Lord.
Lord, have mercy.
For good weather, and for abundant harvests for all to share, let us pray to the Lord.
Lord, have mercy.
For those who travel by land, water, or air, for the sick and the suffering, for prisoners and captives, and for their safety, health, and salvation, let us pray to the Lord.
Lord, have mercy.
For our deliverance from all affliction, strife, and need, let us pray to the Lord.
Lord, have mercy.
For the absolution and remission of our sins and offences, let us pray to the Lord.
Lord, have mercy.
For all who have died, let us pray to the Lord.
Lord, have mercy.
Remembering all the saints, we commit ourselves, one another, and our whole life to Christ our God.
To you, O Lord.
And now as our Savior taught us, we are bold to pray:
The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.
The Collects of the Day
Grant us, Lord, not to be anxious about earthly things, but to love things heavenly; and even now, while we are placed among things that are passing away, to hold fast to those that shall endure; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
Lord God, almighty and everlasting Father, you have brought us in safety to this new day: Preserve us with your mighty power, that we may not fall into sin, nor be overcome by adversity; and in all we do, direct us to the fulfilling of your purpose; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Closing Prayers
A Prayer of St. Chrysostom
Almighty God, you have given us grace at this time with one accord to make our common supplication to you; and you have promised through your well-beloved Son that when two or three are gathered together in his Name you will be in the midst of them: Fulfill now, O Lord, our desires and petitions as may be best for us; granting us in this world knowledge of your truth, and in the age to come life everlasting. Amen.
Glory be to the + Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit,
now and always and forever and ever. Amen.
Lord, have mercy! (3x)
God, be gracious to us and bless us and shine Your countenance upon us and have mercy on us.
This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it!
The Father+ is my hope; the Son, my refuge; the Holy Spirit, my protection:
All-Holy Trinity, glory to You!
Amen!
