It's human nature to seek comfort in objects, substances, and people. But when we put our faith in these things, we risk limiting our understanding of God. We might end up believing that He can only be found in the walls of a church, the pages of a book, or our favorite worship song. Yet, we know that God is so much more than that. You might realize that you've been worshiping the very thing you were battling all along.
This week at Zion, Pastor Brandon Block teaches us in Acts 17 that Paul makes the people in Athens aware of this very thing. He points out that they have even built an altar with the inscription, "TO AN UNKOWN GOD" (Acts 17:23). Throughout this passage, Paul teaches those in the meeting of the Areopagus that while they think they can fit their Gods into manmade shrines and temples, there is a God that we live and move and have our being in.
