Most people would retire from sports if they had three consecutive ACL injuries that required a year off from the game they love. You couple that with a global pandemic that cancels your season, and you get 1,789 days away from basketball.
That was what Jelani Williams was up against this season, as he led the Howard Bison Men's Basketball Team to their first MEAC championship in 31 years punching their ticket to the NCAA Tournament and a matchup against defending national champion Kansas.
In this episode, we discuss the mental battle that came along with three separate stints with ACL rehab, battling depression through the injuries, and seeking out professional help when it got hard. This is a discussion on the toll injuries can take on your mental health, and how it's okay to ask for help if you need it.
