Rae, who joined Andy and Cam on their February 22nd show, is a non-binary, Filipino-American anthropologist working in North America and researching social media and white supremacy. This is an excerpt of a longer segment - for the full interview, head to 3cr.org.au/yeahnahpasaran. Catch Yeah Nah Pasaran on 3CR every Thursday from 4:30-5:00PM.//Simon Katterl is a mental health advocate, consultant and the current Chair of Victorian Mental Illness Awareness Council (VMIAC). Today, Simon joins us to discuss the urgency of realising a Consumer Leadership Agency as per Recommendation 29 of The Royal Commission into Victoria's Mental Health System. Mental health and AOD consumer advocates have renewed calls for the immediate implementation of Recommendation 29, with this week marking the third year since The Royal Commission into Victoria's Mental Health System handed down its recommendations. All of Simon Katterl’s work is underpinned by an understanding that consumer leadership and co-design are critical to service transformation, and that a functioning system will be one that respects human rights. Read the open letter by SHARC and VMIAC and here.//Architect Simon Robinson, one of the managing directors of Melbourne-based not-for-profit design and research practice OFFICE, joins us to talk about resisting state neglect and demolition of public housing through their retain, repair and reinvest approach. OFFICE have previously engaged in pro bono assessment and design work for public housing residents at the Ascot Vale and Barak Beacon estates to present viable alternatives to government-initiated mass demolition, instead aiming to keep public housing communities together and in place while improving their dwelling conditions. In the wake of last year's Victorian government announcement of plans to demolish all 44 high-rise public housing towers in Melbourne over the next few decades, OFFICE have been engaged by tower communities in Flemington and North Melbourne to undertake a proper structural assessment and to research options for refurbishment. This independent work is being undertaken in the absence of government transparency about why the towers need to come down. OFFICE are holding a fundraiser tonight to raise money to cover the cost of the study, running from 6-9PM at 35 Emma Street Collingwood with an associated online auction for donated artworks.//A multi-talented creative visionary, rapper, singer and writer, MUDRAT (FKA - KVNYL) music has gained acclaim for his use of genre-bending instrumentals alongside passionate delivery, raw lyricism and high-impact production. Creating music that draws from his perspective of the world, life experience and cultural roots, he chats to us about making music in times of collective crisis.// Support13 Yarn on 13 92 76 and YarningSafenStrong on 1800 959 563 are available to mob 24/7 today and always.//SuicideLine Victoria 1300 651 251 is available to everyone 24/7 for support.//
