Grand Prairie warned residents north of Interstate 20 to avoid using the city’s water for uses other than flushing due to the presence of a foaming agent in the water. Grand Prairie ISD announced on social media that campuses would be closed today “out of an abundance of caution” because of the water issue. That includes cancellation of all morning extracurricular activities. Bottled water is being distributed in front of City Hall and will be distributed at other locations, which can be found on the city’s website, gptx.org. Residents with questions are encouraged to call 972-237-8400; in other news, transgender Texans will no longer be allowed to change the sex on their birth certificates to reflect their gender identity. The policy change comes less than two weeks after Texas banned transgender residents from changing the sex on driver’s licenses or state-issued IDs.
