I'm so f**king honoured and excited to share this conversation with one of my most influential teachers — Amy Taylor-Kabbaz.

Amy is a Mama of 3 and one of leading voices on Matrescence in the world today. She leads a training programme (that changed my life!) called 'Mama Rising' and is the author of a book by the same name.

In this episode we speak about:

  • Amy's landing into motherhood 16 years ago
  • Her discovery of — and reaction to learning — the word matrescence 10 years into motherhood
  • the injustice of not knowing this word sooner
  • acknowledging our own mothers' matrescence
  • how Amy changed her coaching and support method to be better for mothers (this made me cry as it's SO important!) — and the coaching model that some use is so toxic and adds to the problems
  • my awakening/cracking open upon learning about matrescence
  • experiencing matrescence mixed with domestic abuse; gaslighting, control and coercion
  • post-traumatic GROWTH and what that can do to/for us
  • what matrescence teaches us and how positive that is for this generation and the ones yet to come
  • towards the end I share a poem I wrote for Amy

Themes: Matrescence, Motherhood, Parenting, Mental Health, Birth

To learn more about Amy's work see here on Amy's website.

We speak of Dr Aurelie Athan and Dr Oscar Serralach.
