Are you interested in how the creative use of storytelling has the power to create transformative change in the world? Do you love a good documentary?

In this fourth episode, I interview the inspirational philanthropist Gerri McHugh, a Gates Foundation recipient and founder of Global Health Film. I can’t wait for you to hear the unique perspectives and insights Gerri shares about how the power of film and storytelling is helping to amplify voices and bring social change.

Gerri McHugh is the founder and director of Global Health Film and has overseen its transition from project to registered charity. She’s held leadership roles in the nonprofit sector for over 25 years, advising on developing and implementing strategies for organizational reform and growth. She was the CEO of the Royal Society of Tropical Medicine & Hygiene until mid 2016 when she left to focus on developing Global Health Film.

Global Health Film is a UK based non-profit that serves a global community, passionate about health and social justice issues through the power of excellent film and inspiring conversations that spark change. This incredible organization offers film memberships, international festivals, and events. Whether you are an individual documentary enthusiast craving more than just what Netflix has to offer, or an organization looking to use film as an educational resource, then you definitely need to check out GlobalHealthFilm.org.

Key a-ha moments include:

  • Impactful examples of how the power of film provokes action and movement towards justice
