The climate crisis cannot be mentioned by order of DeSantis, but will affect the state anyway. Property insurance rates are five times the national average. Huge amounts of money were spent by utility companies, natural gas companies, other vested interests on this election in Florida. The Florida government spent $20 million to defeat progressive issue, including funds from the opioid settlement. It will likely take some time for voters to respond to the consequences of these votes. With Rubio leaving the Senate, DeSantis could appoint himself as Senator from Fla.
