Hilde Mosse comes from one of the wealthiest families in Berlin and stands to inherit an enormous fortune. But she longs for something more meaningful than the luxurious lifestyle her family provides. So Hilde decides to pursue her dream of becoming a doctor. As the Nazis take power in Germany and the Mosse family is forced to flee, Dr. Hilde Mosse lands in New York having nearly lost everything.. She finds her calling treating the mental health of Black youth – and the symptoms of a racist system. In addition to photographs, school records, and correspondence spanning Hilde Mosse’s entire lifetime, the Mosse Family Collection in the LBI Archives includes the diaries she kept between 1928 and 1934, from the ages of 16-22. Hilde’s papers are just part of the extensive holdings related to the Mosse Family at LBI. Learn more at lbi.org/hilde . SPOILER ALERT ONE: Please, DO NOT LISTEN to this episode if you have not watched the entire Season 1 of AGATHA ALL ALONG. We spoil everything: tarot, witchcraft, and the MCU. SPOILER ALERT TWO: This is a feature-length podcast. Jaymi and our producer, Kendra, decided to publish the full one-hour and 45-ish-minute episode for your pleasure. Jaymi recommends an extended “break” to enjoy this nerdy chat fully. Do some laundry, take an extra long walk (if you can), or do a deep clean of your house before listening. 😀 *** With the Spoiler Alerts out of the way, welcome to a long one. Enjoy this whole audio nerd-out experience of The Cardslingers discussing the 9-episode run of Agatha All Along. Grab a mug and settle in. For each episode, we discuss divination, magical points, and connections to the MCU. Then, we break down the cards and positions in the tarot community’s famous Episode 7, where we watch three readings being done and represented correctly. Homework: Watch Agatha All Along (again) and try the Safe Passages spread for yourself. Let us know how it went! We made it to the end of 2024! As a nice wrap-up to our deep dive into the Twos that finished last year (teehee) and to honor the year ahead, we’re getting readings with the Twos. The magic of the twos is about finding balance within yourself during every stage of life. Melissa showcases how to read with the Aces, the Twos, the Fool, the Magician, and the High Priestess, proving that you can do readings with a small pack of 11 cards. She also gives Jaymi and Hilary suggestions for spells to honor the reading. Melissa, as usual, reads us to filth using very few cards. Homework: Shuffle your deck and draw cards until you reach the Fool. The card before The Fool is where you came from, and the card behind The Fool may tell you where you’re going or what needs to happen next! See you all next year! Welcome back to the “every card in the deck” series. We’re back with the Two of Pentacles. Another stage card, this time, it’s all about physical balance. In the realm of the pentacles, this is all about work, home life, and finances. It’s difficult to be two people simultaneously; we’ll never be a whole person. Be kind to others because we never know what invisible things everyone is going through. We also get into a bit of the work around reading at events. Welcome back to the “every card in the deck” series. We’re back with the Two of Swords, which happens to be a stage card. Melissa, Hilary, and Jaymi revisit the world of boundaries. Melissa reminds us that the definition of a boundary is “Rules and guidelines we set in our personal guidelines.” There are real, tangible benefits to having boundaries and enforcing them. You need to feel comfortable and safe first, and then you can worry about others. Boundaries also affect our client relationships. Hilary expands on client discernment and how it ties into relationship and boundary setting. And Jaymi reminds everyone about how hard enforcing boundaries can be. Hilary starts by giving ideas for specific focuses using these cards like new beginnings spells. Jaymi uses cards in her magic. You can place the magician in the center of the table and have them activate the spells or workings being done inside the circle.
