"I have an incredibly short attention span..." That's why Kevin Beggs loves TV- it integrates all the many skillsets he has as a "generalist." Kevin Beggs is the Chairman of Lionsgate TV, in his 22nd year working with this massive entertainment company that has international sprawl. "This year has been, as you say, a really crazy year...morale, staff...and pivoting into this new normal...many many things, a crazy political year on top of it...ironically enough, zooming in has brought more people into the (creative) process..." Kevin offers tips and tools for success, and shares his story-- how he started, what inspires and challenges him, and why he loves what he does every day, even in a time of adversity. HIs schooling in politics and theatre at UC Santa Cruz equipped him with an open mind, the ability to earn "buy in" from the many people that must do so to sell a show, keep a series going, and help to run the many departments, creative and business aspects of Lionsgate TV, Starz, and all associated and integrated "across all verticles." I asked Kevin about the pitch process, what it means to be a "third party supplier" of content, what keeps him going day to day managing so many parts... and what he would tell himself now, reflecting back to his eighteen year old self, if he needed advice.
