From Mercedes-Benz Customer Services To A Global SaaS Sales Leader With Grant Coleman - VP & GM at SAP

If you’ve been listening to the Elite Level Podcast all this far, you probably have realized how many immensely successful folks have had humble career beginnings.
Our guest for today’s episode, Grant Coleman, is a stellar example. Grant started his career as a dealer at a local Mercedes Benz showroom for five years. (This is after quitting university in three months to find a proper job.) Managing 20-25 customers daily, handling their expectations – some very demanding ones, and dealing with team mechanics- were all the tiny heavy stuff he had done there. Little would he have known how he would grow to become the successful sales leader he is today!
When Grant realized the massive debt he had built up all these years, he decided to quit Mercedes Benz and find a job to help him get out of debt. And this time, rather than working for the cash machine, he decided to take up a job in sales. To his delight, he saw an advert in the newspaper about a sales job with an earning potential of 20,000 pounds a month. He knew that was it. It was an investment property sales role in Dubai, the company that paved the way for his sales career.
Though challenging, demanding, and heavily disciplined, the job introduced him to the real world of sales – where competition was tough, metrics were constantly looked at, and ethics and behavior were highly valued. Further in his career, Grant moved into real estate too, and the company he joined proved to be an incredibly rewarding experience – he worked 18 hours a day there, but this time, it wasn’t because someone asked him to, but because the work genuinely got into him!
