This week we talk about how we can disagree and deal with our marital conflict well, in a way that is kind towards one another and still glorifying to God. Modeling repentance and forgiveness to our kids is key when our failures (when we don't fight well with our wives) are on display in front of our kids.

NOTES:

  • The Honest Cigar Experience answers our question to them in their latest episode (Episode # )
  • Christian B. does not have the Rona... yet!
  • The quality of a marriage is not a lack of conflict but rather how you deal with the conflict and treat the other person, when you do have conflict or disagreements
  • Most marital conflict will be mitigated if both spouses have a commitment and mindset around trying to "out-serve" & "out-love" one another (rather than being more concerned about our own "needs" & rights being protected.
  • Is it ok to argue in front of your kids?
  • It's important for your kids to experience and be part of your repentance to your spouse, them and God.
  • Am I guilty of crushing my spouse or kids with my words... or are my words life-giving and uplifting?
  • Our job as parents is not to model perfection or even morality to our kids but to instead point our kids to Jesus when we do mess up... Our model is Jesus, who was the most dependent [on God] man who has ever lived.
  • What is my tendency in my motivation during conflict? To fight for my wounded pride to get my way or "win" the argument... or to find the truth in love towards my wife and family.
