Dwight D. Eisenhower delivered his first inaugural address on January 20th, 1953. He had become a five-star general in the Army and was Supreme Commander of the Allied Expeditionary Force in Europe during WW2. After the war ended, he served as Army Chief of Staff for 3 years, president of Columbia for 5, and Supreme Commander of NATO for 2. He won both of his presidential elections against Adlai Stevenson II. He signed the Civil Rights Act of 1957 and, through the Federal Aid Highway Act of 1956, helped create the highway system we use & enjoy today.
