Steve Charendoff has worked on more card sets than probably anyone else around. From his early career at Fleer Skybox, to establishing Rittenhouse Archives over 20 years ago, Steve has overseen one of the most creative and revered periods of Marvel trading cards (not to mention the incredible curation of other global IP such as Star Trek, James Bond, Stargate, and many more).
Steve tells of his pride at having introduced Marvel sketch cards in 1997, and of working with comic book legends to create The Silver Age and Creators Collection sets in 1998. We get into sketch card quality, sell sheets, promo cards, wrapper incentives, gold seals and the history of gaining, revitalising and then losing the Marvel licence. Hear how relationships are key to a quality product, and how the focus on set quality is paramount at Rittenhouse.
