This update to the Cinderella story made Molly Ringwald not only a star but an icon. Plus the soundtrack gave The Psychedelic Furs a huge hit with the title track, whilst also introducing other UK acts like The Smiths, Echo And The Bunnymen and New Order to the huge and receptive American audience.
