FU: Epic says Apple will reinstate developer account, clearing path for Epic Games Store on iPhone - 9to5Mac
Apple's reversal on the Epic situation is all well and good, but it doesn't prevent this kind of thing from happening again to a smaller developer who doesn't have a ton of PR or the ear of the EC. And it does highlight that Apple still has all the control to do whatever it wants, with little oversight, under its proposed DMA plan. They have forcibly inserted themselves in between third party app stores/payment providers and those services’ users, free to turn the screws as they wish.

The US Department of Justice thinks Beeper — a hack that spoofed Mac serial numbers to make iMessage work on random hardware — was ‘fixing’ the messaging experience on iOS.
In 2021, I got a cold email from a Director at Apple. They wanted to arrange a video call to learn more about developer opinions of the App Store. I was happy to oblige, but I think back now to their inability to understand all the frustrations I expressed during the call.
Even “No one likes working with Apple anymore. We do so because we have to” was met with an incredulous stare.
Governments around the world have found exactly this every time they've looked hard at Apple keeping competing browsers at bay, but crikey. The DOJ is not playing around.
It was really naïve to think Epic ‘lost’ its fight against Apple. Everything Epic fought for is going to come to pass, and Apple has trashed its reputation in the process while daring regulators the world over to start peeling the layers of its business apart with a crowbar.
This could all have been avoided; it's entirely Apple's fault, and they deserve what they get
