Find the Whitetail "Feed Tree"
Manage episode 436583711 series 3522575
On today's episode, Jacob outlines how to discern between white and red oaks, and more specifically, some of the subtypes of white and red oak trees that cover different regions of the midwest, northeast, and southeast. As archery deer seasons begin to open across the country, identifying the hot oak flat for whitetails can translate into early season success. White oak flats specifically can be ideal areas for bucks to stage prior to coming to soybeans or corn, they can also serve as a primary food source on properties that lack agriculture. As the season moves on and other food sources wane, red oak acorns can be an option to target as well.
