Dr. Wayne Grudem, author of "The gift of prophecy in the New Testament and today," defines New Testament prophecy as "speaking in our own words something that God brings to mind." This is an excellent starting point as we begin to explore the spiritual gift of prophecy.
In order to fully understand prophecy in the New Testament, it is essential to look at prophecy in the Old Testament and to compare the similarities and differences. There are some very important questions that arise as we do this. Are prophets in the Old Testament the same or similar to prophets in the New Testament? Does prophecy in the New Testament have the same authority as in the Old Testament, is it the 'very words of God'?
In this episode Tim compares Old Testament and New Testament prophecy and provides an important frame work for this topic. Stay tuned for part 11 where the conversation continues and we explore the spiritual gift prophecy further.
