#24 While Shepherd Joins Our Flock Tonight
Manage episode 281526016 series 2681419
In which Brian, Jules, Mark and Sue discuss our new host joining the team; Mark Shepherd, how/whether the next season and Southern Hemisphere's current season will continue with COVID regulations, the logistics of playing Red Ball and Limited Over in the same league, keeping the Red Ball game interesting, registration of Overseas Players, the positives of having an overseas player on your team, NZ & Aus first appointments, family Umpire/Scorers pairings, Jules's recent score sheets, having a scorer with the commentary team, and an exciting Christmas present!
Question Answered: The striker faced a legal ball, hit the ball with the bat and set off for a run. Realising the run was not there, he returned to his crease. Before grounding his bat, the striker has his wicket broken and was given out by the striker’s end umpire. How was he out?
Question Asked: A Batter runs a single and appears to pull a muscle in their leg and is taken off the pitch in a medical buggy, is listed as "retired hurt" and the team is listed as being "all out" at the end of the innings. In the second innings the Batter is listed as "absent hurt" and the team are again listed as "all out" at the end of the innings. Given that "retired hurt" is not mentioned in the Laws of Cricket, how should this have been recorded in the scorebook?
In this week's interview Sue talks to Pete Mayell; Cricket Services Manager at NV Play.
