Joy plays Maria, who on the day before her wedding to a hipster playboy meets an Army Colonel, and struggles to decide between obligation and love. The Contrast was adapted from Royall Tyler’s 1787 stage play but 235+ years later has society really changed? What attracted Joy to the character Maria?
