When you entre into a franchise agreement, you are not buying a business - you are entering into an agreement for a 'term' to operate that business for the franchisor.

I am always telling people who are thinking of getting in to a franchise or starting their business, "Before you get in to it, or start it, know how you will get out of it!" Sadly many people don't take my advice and then down the track come to regret it.
Selling any business, franchise or not, can be a fantastic thing and the owner's (franchisee's) biggest pay day ever. But you need to know what you are doing and plan and prepare.
