Nimmi Ramanujam is Professor of Biomedical Engineering at Duke University. As a student, Nimmi was diagnosed with cervical cancer. This experience led her to develop a portable cervical cancer screening device and work on improving women’s health. Nimmi is also a professional musician since a very young age.

ES: Today’s mentor is Nimmi Ramanujam, Professor of Biomedical Engineering at Duke University.
ES: As a student, Nimmi was diagnosed with cervical cancer. This experience led her to develop a portable cervical cancer screening device and work on improving women’s health. Nimmi is also a professional musician since a very young age.
ES: This is their advice.
NR: My personal view is You’re not just defined by your day job. You can choose to do other things that make you fulfilled. And I think we live in a world now where it’s so important to reinvent ourselves and to imagine possibilities that perhaps you know, are not in our consciousness right now. And, I feel that it’s so important to catalyze change but you don’t have to be a certain type of person to do that, and in fact, you can reinvent yourself over and over again to essentially be of service to society.
