Yes, the classic sea song you've heard before. I worked up this arrangement for the Russian-American-British sea shanty group I've been playing with. Though I can barely manage 3-finger chords in a couple of keys, I've been adding mandolin to some of our tunes. In this case the bluegrass chop of my F-hole F-style really adds some nice rollicking en…

This is a studio demo recording that we did several years ago (2008?). After a period of several years of not playing we have gotten back together. I was digging around and found this. Kind of forgot we did a few tunes in the studio. The band name is 36 Degrees North (the latitude we live on...). I play mandolin in this group. Hope you enjoy it.Jas…

This is a recording I made of the Bluegrass Gentlemen performing an original song written by Jackie Wooten called "Your Memory". Jeff Barnett on Guitar, Jackie Wooten on Bass, David Church on Banjo and Brian Baker on Mandolin. Jackie and David are old school Bluegrass pickers who played with the Skyline Bluegrass Express Band on the Grand Ole Opry …

This is my attempt at a favorite John Hartford tune. Since I can't sing worth a darn I did it as an instrumental (which is fairly common). I play mandolin and resonator guitar on the recording. The Band in A Box RealTracks band helped me out on guitar rhythm and bass.I have a new recording interface and software and I am still learning so the recor…

I wrote this tune while trying to put off shoveling the walk and driveway. Maggie came in and said,"Happy Burns' Day." When I realised what day it was, I used that for the title of my song even though it sounds more Irish than Scottish to me.This version is from the late Zeke Mazurek's last solo album. It features Zeke on fiddle, me on mandolin, Ra…

This is a sort of modern semi-rock interpretation of this very nice traditional old Irish dorian tune.I play this together with my friend in our project "Beards'n'Hats" and it is only the two of us.We like to call this a "bearded" interpretation of this tune.I play mandolin, guitar, bouzouki and banjo on this. my friend plays drums, bass and guitar…

I wrote this tribute to Bill Monroe after visiting the Jerusalem Ridge Bluegrass Festival in Rosine, KY in 2005, and I have just released it in the USA on New Cuts Of Bluegrass Volume 3, and to Radio Stations on Air Play Direct. It is getting really good airplay on US Radio.द्वारा niall toner

I had recently learned these two tunes and liked them. During practice I ran the two tunes together and thought they would work as a medley. I could point out a lot of warts in the recording but then again I am never satisfied with what I do. So here it is warts and all. Hope everyone enjoys the tunes.…

I decided to record another soundclip of my Loar LM-400VS mandolin with the current two week old D'Addario Medium Phosphor Bronze J-74 strings on it. I am using the rounded end of my Blue Chip TAD50 pick, which I have been using lately exclusively now on the mando. It gives it a little deeper/rounder tone I think. See what you think.…

This is a collaboration between Tom (guitar) and I (mando) from over at the Flkatpicker's Hangout. He layed down the guitar and left some spaces for me to insert some mando. I downloaded his song & added mando to it, and saved it as you have it now. Pretty simple but we enjoy it.Anyone wanting to participate and collaborate feel free to come over t…
