Paula qualified as a homeopath in 2004 and began work immediately specialising in the support of autism and autistic spectrum conditions. She completed additional training as a CEASE Therapist in 2010 and then also later trained with Ton Jansen in his detox method. She now weaves classical homeopathy with this amazing system of detoxification in order to remove toxic blocks so that classical remedies can work to their maximum effect. During this time she has had the privilege of working with countless wonderful families, and her work expanded to treating children with complex issues. A large part of Paula’s work includes supporting families with children and young adults with violent and challenging behaviour. Paula has personal experience of autism and complex health issues, and this has created a passion for and deep understanding of the difficult situation an increasing number of families find themselves in. In 2013 Paula stumbled across an understanding called the Three Principles of Innate Health. This proved to be a defining moment in her life. Early on in life Mel Dupres realized that her calling is to help herself and others to be happy, healthy and free. As an adoptee she has struggled with the feelings and consequences of loss, grief and abandonment. Working diligently to overcome this for herself she now assists others in their process and is humbled and honored to do so. She developed a passion for Complementary Medicine over 20 years ago. After completing a Human Science degree at UCL, she eagerly went on to The London College of Classical Homeopathy to complete a Licenciate in 1998 and spent time on postgraduate work at the University of Westminster. She enjoys practicing homeopathy to this day and knows it is one of the most profound systems of medicine available. Leaving her Bermuda island home as a teen, she spent many years in the U.K. which led her down a path of revelation and self discovery through study, clinical practice and work in homeopathic pharmacy. She spent years traveling: to India to learn from Rajan Sankaran and the Gondia Homeopathic College and Hospital, to Ghana where she ran homeopathic clinics, with homeopaths including Ellen Kramer and to various other countries around the world where she would seek connection with other homeopaths as well as purchase Arnica for her 'global collection'! In 2000 she began to practice yoga on and off but it was not until a trip to a healing centre in India, where she practiced daily, that yoga helped tremendously unlocking her own health issues due to stress at the time. This experience sparked her desire to teach yoga and she went on to complete the 200 hour yoga training in 2011 with Yoga London. Homeopathy, which explores the mental/ emotional, physical and spiritual aspects of dis-ease through case taking and remedies, and the breath work/ asana (postures) of yoga, which move the vital energies, combine beautifully to bring about transforming a patients experience to health. Adding therapeutic touch and reiki is the icing on the cake allowing Mel to bring a unique and dynamic approach to caring for those willing to embark on a healing journey. A love of food and in particular a wandering palate has lead Mel to create tasty foods that are plant based, free of common allergens (dairy, gluten and nuts). Knowing that food is not only sensory but ideally for nourishing the body, keeps the inspiration for seeking foundation through food as building blocks for heath for herself and her clients. These modalities and approaches complement each other incredibly well, giving clients the opportunity to transcend illness and transform into a new state of being. Monica Frohmann has been practicing homeopathy since 1999 when she graduated from the Canadian College of Homeopathic Medicine. Monica has been a faculty member at CCHM since 2003 and has also spent many years supervising the second year teaching clinic. For 18 years she had her own homeopathic clinic in Newmarket, Ontario until May 2017 when she sold her practice and moved to Austria. She is currently still employed at the Canadian College of Homeopathic Medicine, as a Distance Education Supervisor and continues to have a private practice in Austria. Monica treats people of all ages, both in person and virtually. Jerry Kantor is the author of several books and today's episode focuses on his new book - "Sane Asylums - the success of Homeopathy before Psychiatry lost its mind." • Examines the success of homeopathic psychiatric asylums in the United States from the 1870s until 1920 • Focuses on New York’s Middletown State Homeopathic Hospital for the Insane, which had a treatment regime with thousands of successful outcomes • Details a homeopathic blueprint for treating mental disorders based on Talcott’s methods, including nutrition and side-effect-free homeopathic prescriptions In the late 1800s and early 1900s, homeopathy was popular across all classes of society. In the United States, there were more than 100 homeopathic hospitals, more than 1,000 homeopathic pharmacies, and 22 homeopathic medical schools. In particular, homeopathic psychiatry flourished from the 1870s to the 1930s, with thousands of documented successful outcomes in treating mental illness. Revealing the astonishing but suppressed history of homeopathic psychiatry, Jerry M. Kantor examines the success of homeopathic psychiatric asylums in America from the post–Civil War era until 1920, including how the madness of Mary Todd Lincoln was effectively treated with homeopathy at a “sane” asylum in Illinois. He focuses in particular on New York’s Middletown State Homeopathic Hospital, where superintendent Selden Talcott oversaw a compassionate and holistic treatment regime that married Thomas Kirkbride’s moral treatment principles to homeopathy. Kantor reveals how homeopathy was pushed aside by pharmaceuticals, which often caused more harm than good, as well as how the current critical attitude toward homeopathy has distorted the historical record.
