A man who fought in the Civil War so he could help see slavery abolished. A man who wrote against what he saw as the evils of his day even standing between a railroad magnate and his company trying to arrange to have a loan given them by the government forgiven. His stories told tales of war and horror and he inspired writers like Stephen Crane and H. P. Lovecraft. He also disappeared mysteriously and to this day no one knows exactly how or why in this crazy episode of the Family Plot Podcast!
