He was a prior President of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, a prior Plastic Surgery Foundation President, and a prior director of the American Board of Plastic Surgery, among many other impressive committee appointments and leadership positions. He has published over 850 peer reviewed papers and over 550 book chapters in addition to being the editor of many textbooks that trainees and young plastic surgeons use very regularly.
