Manage episode 356803375 series 3209184
“Studies have suggested that 1 in 20 people in a 2-week period has a thought of suicide.”
Michael Simmons is the founder and lead trainer at Mental Health Safety Net. He started the charity a few years back after he experienced the sad news of suicide in his community. Mental Health Safety Net exists to support people in learning suicide education and spotting the signs of someone who is struggling. Michael delivers the SafeTALK course designed by LivingWorks to schools and young people, through sponsorship and support of local businesses. He aims to make a generational change by educating young people on spotting the signs of potential suicide and taking that knowledge into the workplace for years to come.
