The coronavirus pandemic continues to rage around the world with more than 26 million people infected and nearly 870,000 people dead. As lockdowns continue and the global economy falters, nowhere is COVID-19’s impact being felt more than in middle and lower income countries.
The virus is disproportionately hurting the poorest people in India and sub-Saharan Africa. Millions are on the brink of extreme poverty and destitution. How can their governments handle this crisis?
Mike Walter caught up with Indian activist Swati Narayan and South African journalist Nhlanhla Sehume to find out.
