Welcome to Chatsworth, Georgia! The town was founded in 1905 as a depot on the Louisville and Nashville Railroad, but became a place of interest in the 1870s when talc was discovered in the area. According to local legend, the town is said to have gotten it's name after a road sign with the word "Chatsworth" fell of a passing train. Someone put the sign on a post and the name stuck. Chatsworth is the seat of Murray County, which is located in the Tennessee border. Located in the Appalachian Mountains, the town is located near the Cohutta Wilderness Area and the Chattahoochee National Forest. We hope you enjoy our visit to Chatsworth!
