How do you beat the heat? How do you make the call when your event is outdoors and it's going to be 100 degrees in the shade? Knowing that you can't please everyone, how do you make the choices that will serve the most people without compromising their wellbeing?

Theresa & Sherry did it through the democratic process and a ton of ice water!

First, they put the question to the campers, would they rather cancel, go to Zoom or meet in the heat. There are 13 registered campers, 5 were unable to attend due to scheduling, 2 chose to avoid the heat for health purposes and 6 campers showed up in bathing suites, ready to face the heat. Even in anticipation of the weather, there was a majority who did not want to go virtual (even if they chose last minute not to come). Each person's choice was celebrated! This community of campers keeps lighting the way.

One camper brought battery-operated fans, another brought cut up watermelon, while the two counselors provided a hose, 5 gallon bottle of water for refills, a cooler of ice water with hand towels soaking for campers to use on their necks, heads & wrists, as well as a baby pool for feet cool-downs. Under the shade of the big tree, we tolerated the heat and even managed to stay cool.

The experience of pivoting has become a cultural skill, honed during the pandemic and put into practice, daily.

Halfway through CAMP, Theresa & Sherry have found themselves emerging from the isolation of the times with renewed vigor and readiness to do the mindset work which will allow fuller presence. CAMP continues to support Anecdotal Anatomy's mission to reveal the individual's connection to the collective through our stories. And, what ensues provides endless topics for discussion!

Highlights from today's episode:

00:12:08 CAMP became a living, 3D example of the Wholistic Place

00:16:29 Touch is the sense we cannot live without (and how it shows up in our language as well)

00:26:30 Defining Proprioception & Interoception

00:38:00 The Mist Walk - keeping cool walking through the mist in formal meditation & free-style dance

00:43:00 The Power of Story (we have the power to edit our stories - not the facts, but the narratives)

Theresa & Sherry met at the Prancing Peacock (mentioned in today's episode). For those interested in their offerings, give it a click.
