Welcome to the eleventh episode of our podcast India on call.

In this podcast, Anubhav and Aarushi are talking about how society is going to change after the pandemic.

They started by talking about how corona has changed the way of life of people. There has been a tremendous change in the habits of people. Everyone has started working from home part of the essential services. The online transaction has gained a lot of traction and even small vendors have opted for online payments.

Anubhav starts talking about various plagues in the history of mankind. He started telling about the Antonine plague which is the first documented plague in the known history. The Antonine Plague, sometimes referred to as the Plague of Galen, erupted in 165 CE, at the height of Roman power throughout the Mediterranean world during the reign of the last of the Five Good Emperors, Marcus Aurelius Antoninus (161-180 CE). The first phase of the outbreak would last until 180 CE affecting the entirety of the Roman Empire, while a second outbreak occurred in 251-266 CE, compounding the effects of the earlier outbreak.

Later Anubhav also talked about the Plague. Plague is an infectious disease caused by Yersinia pestis bacteria, usually found in small mammals and their fleas. The disease is transmitted between animals via their fleas and, as it is a zoonotic bacterium, it can also transmit from animals to humans.

Humans can be contaminated by the bite of infected fleas, through direct contact with infected materials, or by inhalation. Plague can be a very severe disease in people, particularly in its septicaemic and pneumonic forms, with a case-fatality ratio of 30% - 100% if left untreated.
