Above and Beyond is a new binaural concept podcast that explores Thanet's railway. The piece takes a deep dive into the roles of Southeastern Railway’s employees, exploring their day-to-day and celebrating the times they go above and beyond, using warmth, personality and humanity. It combines newly composed binaural music and songs, recordings of station environments, on-train soundscapes plus interviews with Southeastern staff. The podcast is recorded in a unique way using binaural audio, a method of recording that reproduces the way humans naturally experience sound, this format is made to be listened to through headphones, making it the perfect format for those seeking inspiration while travelling by Southeastern train. The podcast has been commissioned by the Creative Isle Community Rail Partnership (CICRP), and forms part of the podcast series Headphone Story, developed by Creative Director Tom Adams.
